Volcano: The Feature It Forms.

Due to great heat beneath the earth, solid rocks are heated to become molten. These molten rocks are known as magma. Sometimes this magma for various reasons finds its way to the surface of the earth. Molten magma on the surface of the earth is called larvae, which solidifies to form feature related to a Volcano . Vulcanicity has the ability to produce very many beautiful features a part from mountains which are the most common features. Mountains formed as a result of this process have a characteristic cone shape. Mt. Kilimanjaro and Mt. Kenya, the first and second highest mountains in Africa respectively are said to be as a result of this process. Mt. ST. Helens is one example in the US. Vulcanicity can be said to be in three states. Dead volcano: this is when an eruption has not occurred for a very long time such that it is thought that it will never happen again thus dead. Active state is when an eruption can occur at anytime. Inactive state is in between the two. Features formed by Volcanoes other than mountains include; Plateaus which are formed when larva that is very liquid spread to cover a large area. Some island are formed when larvae erupts and solidifies in a water mass. Sometimes magma is not able to find its way to the surface of the earth. If water is able to make its way to the magma it is heated, forming hot springs and geysers. Such areas can be exploited to harness geothermal power. Other Volcanic Landforms such as the devil tower in Wyoming are formed when magma is not able to reach the earth surface, the block of rock formed when it solidifies remains below the ground. However, with time the process of soil erosion removes the soil around it to form this beautiful feature.
